our History
That didn’t sit right. So he called them out. He went to war with the gatekeepers, demanding that Denver hip-hop get the respect it deserved. When the industry refused to listen, he built the platform himself.
As a teenager, Sly Guevara saw the problem firsthand. He watched talented artists get shut out, ignored, and overlooked. The same few names got media attention, while the underground scene—the real culture—was left in the dark.
Before Crazy TV, Denver’s hip-hop scene had no real media presence. If you weren’t part of a select few, local media outlets didn’t care. They didn’t cover the real hip-hop from the streets—they covered what suited their political agenda.
The First to Give Denver Hip-Hop a Real Voice.
The Birth of Crazy TV
In 2017, Crazy TV launched, becoming one of the first, if not THE first, media company dedicated solely to Denver’s local hip-hop scene. No outside industry politics. No favoritism. Just raw, unfiltered, authentic Denver hip-hop.
Crazy TV wasn’t about money—it was about giving Denver’s real hip-hop artists a voice. It was about creating a movement for the artists grinding in the streets who had nowhere to showcase their talent.

Meet Sly Guevara: The Visionary Who Fought for Denver's Hip-Hop Scene
Denver’s hip-hop scene wasn’t always thriving. Before Crazy TV, if you weren’t part of the select few favored by local media, you didn’t exist. The industry was locked behind gatekeepers who dictated what Denver hip-hop looked like, leaving real street artists unheard and unseen.
But Sly Guevara refused to accept that reality. As a teenager, he saw talented rappers struggle—not because they lacked skill, but because they lacked a voice.
Denver’s media outlets ignored them, covering only what fit their political narrative. It wasn’t about the culture—it was about control.
So Sly fought back. He publicly called out the industry for its bias, exposing the way it refused to showcase the real music of the city. He went to war with the media, challenging their exclusionary tactics, and even sent journalists playlists of underground talent—playlists that they later wrote about, proving that the demand for Denver’s real hip-hop was undeniable.
Some outlets listened and started covering local artists he recommended, even publishing articles about his own work in the community.
When it became clear that Denver's hip-hop scene needed more than occasional media coverage, Sly made a decision that would change Denver’s hip-hop landscape forever:
If the industry wouldn’t give Denver hip-hop a platform, he would build one.
